What’s so Pinteresting?

Pinterest

Beautiful, visual, display boards decorated with wonderful pins!

So what’s so interesting about Pinteresting?

I would love to define Pinterest as Pinning your Interests!

If we go by the generic definition of Pinterest, we can call it a visual discovery tool or social bookmarking site. Honestly, whatever we call it, it plays both the roles perfectly. Pinterest launched in March 2010, now has over 70 million users out of which 500,000 are business accounts.

Pinterest’s audience is engaged and active. As a result, not only does it rank among top social media platforms, but it gives a throat cutting competition to Facebook and Twitter when it comes to online shopping.

In the beginning, Pinterest was seen more as a “lady’s buddy” because you will find more women on Pinterest than men. And though it was defined as just another visual site which was all about boards and pins, today Pinterest is a lot more in just one pocket.

Being a social bookmarking site, people collect and share photos of their favorite events, interests and hobbies with friends and followers. And as we know that visual marketing is the current trend, so it’s no wonder that even brands see huge potential. Even after being new and having far less users as compared to Facebook and Twitter, Pinerest has the record of selling more online products than any of its competitors, this year.

Surprised?

Really! That’s true. Pinterest solves both the purposes; Entertainment & Business!

It is the perfect example of “a picture is worth a thousand words”!

We human beings are very visual in nature. We like to share and see things that create direct impact. We trust more and remember more of what we see, rather than what we read or hear. And this is the most basic reason of Pinterest’s success! The second and a very important factor for Pinterest’s success is user generated content. Most of the content on Pinterest is contributed by it’s users. Any given day you will trust your neighbor more than a salesman when it comes to purchasing. 😉

Not only has Pinterest created its own mark but it has also giving the word “PIN” a new dimension! Now you can find the image of “PIN” and ways of pinning everywhere on internet, even on smartphones. In fact social media giants like Facebook and Twitter have started using the PIN process. On Twitter you can pin most important tweet to the top and on Facebook page (not personal profiles) also you can do the same.

So what are you waiting for, just login with  Pinterest  and start pinning now!

    1. Hi Anil, thank you for the appreciation. I have just started with social media thing so I am not accepting back linking right now. But I would love to work on it in future.
Though you may send me the link at once, I’ll love to read the work and if I find it very similar, we can look in for back linking. By the way went to your blog, it is a nice one 🙂

  2. “Any given day you will trust your neighbor more than a salesman when it comes to purchasing.” – You are absolutely right!

When fellow people just like us post something, it brings with it a ‘personal touch’ which is a hundred times more effective than any other marketing technique. This is truly one of the strong USPs of Pinterest. I am sure Pinterest has a long way to go, it’s already giving biggies like Facebook and Twitter a run for their money! Let’s see what more exciting is in store for us.

Already waiting for your next feature; I now feel – ‘being Pinteresting’ is the NEW ‘being Interesting’!!

    Cheers 🙂 🙂
